Video of Nodar Kumaritashvili’s Death
Nodar Kumaritashvili, a Georgian luge slider competing at the Vancouver Olympics, died today after crashing during a training run and hitting a metal pole. He was 21.Nodar Kumaritashvili’s was to compete in the Winter Olympics this year. He died in a terrible crash only hours before the opening ceremony.
He was to compete in a luge race at the Winter Olympics, which is basically a 90 mph sled riding competition. Since Kumaritashvili’s death, there has been wide spread criticism of track safety.
Kumaritashvili was taken to the hospital after losing control of his sled, going over the track wall, and hitting an unpadded steel pole in the head at an extremely fast speed. We were told that he was pouring of blood from his head and doctors had no chance of saving his life.
