Star of Harry Potter, Emma Watson has said that she wants to get rid of the restrictions imposed on her due to her celebrity status and lead to a normal life.

“It must appear super-glamorous, and there are certainly moments like this week when it is glamorous. But 90 percent of the time it’s not so glamorous. Maybe it’s just like the grass is always greener. But normal things just sound so appealing right now. Just normal stuff,” the New York Daily News quoted her as saying at a press conference for ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.’

The actress also said that she managed to live a regular life whenever there is no buzz of a Harry Potter film.

She added: Normally, in the middle of the year, when there’s not a “Harry Potter” film being released, if I walk outside with no makeup on … I’m fine. I take the tube, I wait for buses. I live a normal life.

”I’m very uncompromising about that. There are people who are advising me, It’s not safe, you shouldn’t be doing this.’… But I really struggle with the idea that I’m having my freedom taken away.”

“I just can’t handle that. I’d much rather deal with a couple of people coming up to me and stopping me than just not going out anymore. I’d go insane, you just end up with a barrier between you and the real world. You’re not experiencing things firsthand. …You’re bubble-wrapped.”

Watson is also excited about joining a university soon for further studies. She exclaimed: “I think university, the college experience, just sounds so great. I just don’t want to miss out on it. I think it’s a great time to make friends. I think it’s a great time to figure out who you are and what you like.”

One of 2001's most highly anticipated films was "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and the casting process for the trio of young stars had some of the old-fashioned Hollywood feel, akin to the search for another literary figure--Scarlett O'Hara. Once Daniel Radcliffe had been set as the bespectacled young wizard, it became necessary to find a young girl to portray Harry's pal, the serious and dedicated Hermione Granger. Casting directors in the United Kingdom scoured primary schools and youth arts groups hoping to find the right youngster. Emma Watson, a fan of the J.K. Rowling books, thought it would be "a giggle" to audition for the role when the casting people visited her school in Oxford. But when she kept being called back to read for the part, the cute, light-haired pre-teen began to realize she really had a shot at it. Impressed with Watson's ability to be direct but still appealing, the producers settled on her for the part. It also helped that she shared an instant chemistry with Radcliffe and Rupert Grint (who was cast to play Harry's best friend Ron Weasley). While the youngster remains uncertain about pursuing acting as a full-time profession and was left with little time to pursue other roles due to the back-to-back nature of filming the franchise before the young actors outgrew their roles, Watson reprised Hermione in the sequels "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002) and the slightly darker "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004). Harry Potter actor Emma Watson confirms she will attend U.S. college

Actor, Emma Watson, who stars as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as well as all the other Harry Potter films based on the popular fantasy series by J. K. Rowling, appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on July 8, 2009. Ms. Watson was on the program to promote the new film, which makes its North American premiere in New York City on Thursday.

In her interview with Dave, when he asked her about college, Emma said that she was coming to the United States to attend college in the fall. (She did not identify which institution she will be attending). She said she will study for a liberal arts degree, possibly concentrating in English, Art, or something else. When Mr. Letterman inquired further about what one does with a liberal arts degree, Watson said:

"This is one of the reasons that I've come to the States, because I'm young and indecisive, and I'm not quite sure what I want to major in."

When Letterman asked her whether she was still looking ahead to a long career as an actor, she said, "Yes." After joking with her about the mechanics of her Toyota Prius, a picture of her wardrobe malfunction at the London premiere, and seeing a clip from the movie, Mr. Letterman concluded the interview by wishing Emma well, saying, "Good luck with your college career in our country."
