Here are the Paul McCartney Citi Field set list, video, photos of the live concert on July 17, 2009 in New York at the new arena replacing Shea Stadium where The Beatles played historic concerts in 1965 and 1966.
On July 17, 2009, the music legend and former member of The Beatles Paul McCartney made the first of three appearances at the new stadium which replaces Shea Stadium. The two-hour Paul McCartney Citi Field concert featured a guest appearance from Billy Joel who joined McCartney on stage to play piano on the Beatles signature hit I Saw Her Standing There. Reciprocally McCartney had joined Joel on stage when he was a headliner at the final concert at Shea Stadium, the prior year.
In August 15, 1965 The Beatles played a 34-minute set at Shea Stadium. A year later, in 1966, the next appearance at the historic stadium proved to be their last, as it was also their last tour as a band.
He is quoted as beginning the concert saying:
“Long time since I was here. I’ve got a feeling that we’re going to have a little bit of fun tonight.”
As the Paul McCartney Citi Field Set List video reveals, McCartney and his band performed Beatles songs, such as Hey Jude, and Helter Skelter as well as songs from later years including Wings, and the most recent Firehouse and the new album, Electric Arguments.
He also performed a number of tribute including Here Today and Give Peace a Chance for John Lennon and Something for George Harrison. He dedicated My Love to his late wife Linda McCartney who was a member of his band Wings.
